Hiring a journalist and cameraman in Stockholm
The questions news desks and producers ask most often.
Can you cover a story in Stockholm at short notice?
Yes. I live and work in Stockholm with my own camera, sound, edit and live kit, so I can usually be on location the same day. Send the outline, location and deadline and I will tell you straight away what is possible.
Do you work alone or with a crew?
Both. Most news work I do alone as a self-shooting reporter, which is quick and discreet. When a story needs more hands, I bring in a trusted local camera operator, sound recordist or producer.
Which countries do you cover?
Sweden first, and Norway, Denmark and Finland regularly, including the Arctic north, Åland and the Baltic coast. I have also covered World Cups, Olympic Games and Rugby World Cups abroad.
What languages do you work in?
English, Swedish, Norwegian and French. I can conduct interviews in any of them and translate for your edit.
Can you do live hits?
Yes. I carry an Aviwest bonded-cellular transmitter and have done live two-ways and stand-ups for Al Jazeera English, including seven weeks of live coverage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. I can supply the camera operator and the reporter, or just the camera and signal.
What do you deliver, and how fast?
Raw rushes, a cut package or both, delivered to your specification, including MXF OP1a with split audio tracks. Same-day turnaround is normal for news.
What kit do you use?
Sony FX6 and FX3, radio mics, gimbal, drone, lighting and an Aviwest transmitter. Underwater and cold-water filming is possible; I am a certified Divemaster.
Do you work for commercial clients as well as broadcasters?
Yes, selectively. Through Paul Rhys Media AB I take on documentary-style commercial productions that suit a journalist's eye. Send the brief.
